Is your E-Aadhaar Verification failing for Income Tax?

Is your E-Aadhaar Verification failing for Income Tax?

Presently, small taxpayers are enjoying the benefits of E-Aadhaar Verification for the purpose of Income Tax Returns and other personal matters. Aadhaar verification shall become compulsory after 31st July, 2017 for purpose of Income Tax. Now the problem is that in maximum cases PAN Card data (data as per Income Tax Department) does not match Aadhaar Data.

Why does Aadhaar Verification fail in Income Tax:

For Aadhaar Verification in Income Tax two major things that should match are: 1. Full Name 2. Date of Birth. 1% difference in these two items will result in Aadhaar Verification failure. Even difference of space in name is not accepted. Thus even if you have both Aadhaar Card and PAN Card, verification may fail. In Indian State of Rajasthan full date of birth is not printed on many Aadhaar Cards which is also a cause for Aadhaar Verification failure. Also if your mobile number is not registered in Aadhaar or registered mobile number is inactive then also Aadhaar Verification will fail.

Guidelines for successful PAN Card – Aadhaar Verification:

Here are some helpful tips for PAN Card – Aadhaar successful verification:

  1. Firstly confirm whether your mobile number is registered in Aadhaar. If registered ensure that the registered mobile number is active i.e. working.
  2. Secondly confirm if the name as on PAN Card matches exactly with the name as on Aadhaar Card. In case of slightest discrepancy submit your Income Tax Return with the name as on PAN Card.
  3. If Aadhaar Verification fails then you have two options-
  • Make correction in your PAN Card as per Aadhaar Data
  • Make correction in your Aadhaar Data as per PAN Card

But to avoid any controversy or problem in future keep same name in PAN Card and PAN Card database.

Benefits of PAN Card – Aadhaar successful verification:

Following are the benefits of Pan Card – Aadhaar successful verification:

  • Post 31st July 2017 Aadhaar Verification will become compulsory for Income Tax. So successful verification will complete your responsibility.
  • On Successful Aadhaar Verification, Individuals will not be required to send ITR-V (Income Tax Return’s Primary Online Receipt) to Bengaluru, thus saving time and ensuring correct delivery.
  • Accuracy in KYC for Bank purpose.
  • Safety from any controversy / problems in future.

How to make correction in Pan Card or Aadhaar Card?

Aadhar Card Verification Fails in Income Tax

Aadhar Card Verification Fails in Income Tax

Now-a-days, use and importance of Aadhar Card and Aadhaar Number is increasing substantially. Indian Government is interested to make the Aadhaar Card / Number compulsory but Supreme Court has said ‘No’ for compulsory Aadhaar. Therefore, Government is increasing the importance of Aadhar Card in positive and rewarding manner. In the income Tax also, facility and benefit has been extended to Income Tax Return Filers if they make Aadhaar Card Verification for fling the ITR. Now, if any Income Tax Return is filed with Aadhaar Card verification, ITR is accepted online directly and direct acknowledgement is issued without sending any ITR-V to CPC, Bengaluru and Aadhaar Card is accepted as complete I.D.Proof for Pan Card application but unfortunately, in maximum cases, Aadhar Card Verification fails in Income Tax Return filing process.

No doubt, Aadhaar Card is not simply an Identity Card only but it is much more than an Identity Card. Now-a-days, aadhar Card has been compulsorily linked to various government schemes. But it is bad luck of Indian Public that no proper care was taken while preparing the Aadhar Card but the contractor companies saved their time by filling incomplete or incorrect data in maximum cases. Therefore, aadhar  Card verifications fails at many places. Particularly, Aadhaar verification  fails in Income Tax Department which proves the carelessness of the UIDAI which could not control the deliberate carelessness of the conractor companies and their employees.

Take the example of Rajasthan. In the maximum Aadhar Cards of Rajasthan,  Aadhaar Holders will not find their correct or complete birth date. In maximum cases, only Year of Birth has been mentioned in place of Date Of Birth and therefore, this is main reason of failure of Aadhaar in verification. In many cases, name in Aadhar Card and name pan card is not matching and due to this mismatch, Aadhaar fails in verification. In maximum cases, throughout India, Mobile Numbers of aadhaar Holders were not mentioned on aadhaar database and therefore, an ITR filer can not make online correction in Aadhaar. This is very serious problem and therefore,  we advise all the Aadhaar Card and Pan Card holders that they should match both these  documents / Identity Proofs 100% by making correction as per their requirement. Either Aadhaar should be corrected or the Pan Card should be corrected as per suitability.

UIDAI – Unique Identification Authority

UIDAI – Unique Identification Authority

Uidai ‘ is the abbreviation of  Unique Identification Authority Of India, the Aadhar Authority.  Uidai is autonomous  body  or authority of Government Of India with special status. Unique Identification Authority Of India was formed by government of India to provide an unique, colored and multipurpose Identity proof for all Indian Citizens irrespective of the state.  In last few years, many government schemes and activities have been linked to Aadhar Card one by one. One day, aadhar Card will be compulsory document for an Indian Citizen.

Though, there are many shortcomings in the Uidai services but Unique Identification Authority Of India is materially successful in giving aadhar card to Indian public at large scale. To provide the aadhar Card services, Unique Identification Authority Of India established  thousands of permanent  and temporary Aadhar Centers through out the India. And facilities were also provided through camps and public drive in each and every village of India. All such actions resulted in to issuance of more than 70 Crores Aadhar Cards through out the India. However, issuance of aadhar card is not equally successful into delivery of aadhar Card and thus, seriously failure of delivery of aadhar Card resulted in to good business of E-aadhar for Aadhar Centers of Uidai at even village level. Recently, Uidai has changed it policy and now, all Aadhar Cards are sent by Registered or Speed Post which will definitely solve the problem of service / delivery of Aadhar Card.

Production and issuance of Aadhar Card is the completely offline process so far as aadhar applicant is concerned but it is almost online so far as UIDAI is concerned. All the remaining services such as E-aadhar, Correction in Aadhar, Reprint of aadhar etc. have been provided by the Uidai online but maximum Indian Citizens are not fully equipped to take the benefit of these online services and therefore, all these online services can be either enjoyed through Aadhar Centers of Uidai for nominal charges or through private companies / websites like etdsdsc.com of Moon Soft Technologies Pvt. Limited. In case of correction in registered mobile Number and physical data, such corrections can be made through authorized Aadhar Centers of Unique Identification Authority Of India only.

UIDAI - Unique Identification Authority

Aadhar Card – Uidai

Aadhar Card – Uidai

Aadhaar Card : Before few years,  Government of India  under the prime minister-ship of  Mr. Man Mohan Singh decided to issue an unique identity card to all Indian citizens to avoid scandals in various Identity Proofs. Except the Election Identity (Electrol Identity) Card and Ration Card (Family Card), no other Identity proof (I.D.Proof) was used and accepted at all India Level at public at large. Many cases of fake Ration Cards and Election I.D. cards were alleged in Assam and many state of India. And thus, many cases of multiple Election Cards and Ration Cards were found and alleged in many states of India.  Average and poor Indians have no approach to Identity Cards like Pan Card and Passport. Therefore, Government of India decided to issue an all Indian Level unique Identity  proof like Aadhar Card to end the problems of scandals.

For creating infrastructure for issuance of Aadhaar Card, Government Of India set up a 100% Government owned authority known as ‘ Unique Identification Authority Of India ‘. This ‘ Unique Identification Authority Of India ‘ is now well known  as ‘ UIDAI ‘ in short . A very big project was taken up by Uidai for implementation at mass level at all India level.  Work of issuance of Aadhaar Card was / is executed through various Aadhaar Card centers established by Uidai through various private companies and almost, all the services related to Aadhaar Card  are / were / made available online.

Aadhar Card is issued by Uidai through it’s agencies in dual languages English  as well as local language and aadhar card is sent to the Aadhar applicant-resident by post. To avoid the delay in delivery of Aadhar Card &  non-delivery of aadhar Card and  to secure fast delivery of Aadhar Card, an online  facility has also been provided. Through this facility, applicant-resident can download his e-aadhar Card if accepted by the Uidai. Therefore, first, applicant resident should check Aadhaar Card status and there after, he should download the e-aadhar without waiting for original aadhar by post. Uidai also provided all facilities online such as correction in Aadhaar Card and  Reprint of aadhar Card etc. In case of any physical corrections related to face (photo), eyes and finger prints, aadhar-resident will have to attend regular Aadhar Center as these facilities are not available online.

Aadhaar Verification for ITR and Fast IT Refund

Aadhaar Verification for ITR and Fast IT Refund

Government of India is keen to make the Aadhaar Compulsory but due to interruption of Hon’ble Supreme Court, Government is unable to make the Aadhaar Card / Number compulsory straight way. Therefore, Central Government is raising the importance of Aadhaar in positive manner and offering incentives for use of aadhaar. By these positive ways also, government is succeeding in making the Aadhaar Compulsory. In the series of various incentives, Income Tax Department of Govt. of India has also offered an incentive for ‘ Aadhaar Verification for ITR and Fast IT Refund ‘.

To understand this incentive, we will have to understand the procedures of Income Tax Department as regards to online filing of ITR and Income Tax Refund. In small and very few cases, Income Tax Return can be filed offline physically but now, time has gone for such offline filings. Generally, now-a-days Income Tax Returns are filed online compulsorily and otherwise also, maximum other returns are filed online voluntarily. For filing the ITR online, there are total four  prevailing systems.

First, file ITR online and send ITR-V to CPC, Bengaluru. Second, file ITR online with e-verification ( for small Returns and Non-refund cases only ) without sending any ITR-V to CPC, Bengaluru. Third, file ITR online with Aadhaar Verification ( for all Returns except Audit Cases)  without sending any ITR-V to CPC, Bengaluru. And last fourth, file ITR online with DSC (Digital Signature (for all Returns )  without sending any ITR-V to CPC, Bengaluru.

Thus, in all the refund cases, ITR can be uploaded by Aadhaar verification or by DSC but uploading the Income tax Return with DSC is very costly affair as DSC it self is costly. Therefore, Aadhaar verification is very cheap and easy way to file the ITR online. If, you file your Income Tax Return online with Aadhaar Verification, your ITR will be directly accepted without sending ITR-V and you will get acknowledgement directly. Resultantly, your ITR will be in Que on the very same moment, you file the I.T. Return and you will get the refund very fast. Therefore, all are advised to check their Aadhaar Card and PAN Card whether they are matching with each other or not ?

Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt – Aadhaar Problem

Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt – Aadhaar Problem

Aadhaar Card is a very good ID proof,  document and data record. Government of India is keenly interested to make the Aadhaar compulsory . But there are serious Aadhaar Problems / Aadhaar Card problems for which Government of India is doing nothing. UIDAI may be unawaew of these problems. We are just raising all such Aadhaar problems and shortcomings one by one in separate articles. We hope that Government of India  / UIDAI will solve all such Aadhaar Card Problems. In this article, we are raising first problem which can be captioned as  Problem of Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt / Acknowledgement.

Problem of Enrollment Receipt / Acknowledgement : When an applicant (Resident) applies first time for Aadhaar / Aadhaar Card, applicant is issued a Enrollment Receipt / Acknowledgement. This Enrollment Receipt / Acknowledgement contains it’s number with date and time.  Presently, maximum Aadhaar applicants are facing following problems relating to Enrollment Receipt / Acknowledgement :-

1. Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt is a life long document. Unfortunately, this life long document is issued on the poorest quality paper. Therefore, it has no life.

2. While issuing this Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt, it’s importance was not explained to the applicant and therefore, maximum applicants are not keeping it in safe custody resulted in to loss / misplacement.

3. For E-aadhaar Card, Enrollment Number / Time / Date is necessary where as almost applicants have scrapped / lost their Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt due to poor knowledge about the importance of Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt.

4. Due to loss / misplacement of Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt and/or Enrollment Number, Time & Date, applicant can not download his/her E-aadhaar.

Suggestion For Aadhaar Applicants / Residents

A. Aadhaar Applicant  should ask and take  the Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt from the Incharge of Aadhaar Center / Aadhaar Camp at the time of applying for Aadhaar.

B. Aadhaar Applicant  should keep and maintain the Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt in safe custody for life. It can be laminated also.

B.  Aadhaar Applicant  should write, save & preserve the  Aadhaar Enrollment Number, Time & Date at multiple locations.

Suggestion For Aadhaar UIDAI / Govt. Of India

(a) Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt should be issued on good quality paper.

(b) While issuing this Aadhaar Enrollment Receipt, it’s importance and safe custody should be well explained / taught to the applicant.

(c) Now, UIDAI should send once or more than once the Enrollment Number, Time & Date to each Aadhaar Applicant by post (most important) , email and sms.

(d) Alternatively, UIDAI should provide online as well as offline facility for knowing Enrollment Number, Time & Date (but without sending OTP on  registered Mobile No. only.)
